Conservative Views

Go Galt on July 30th!

“Going Galt” with fellow Conservatives!

On July 30th, Conservatives are “Going Galt”. On that date, we are asking Conservatives all across the nation to “Call in Conservative”. On July 30th, Conservatives will not work, we will not buy. Instead, we will spend time with our families and friends. We will show President Obama and Congress who REALLY drives this economy. For more information on “A Day Without Conservatives , contact Judson Phillips at judson@teapartynation.com.

AwakenPatriots_ss2

This is coming from Tea Party Nation.   What better way to show the Obama administration and Congress WHO drives the economy than this!  I would suggest that even if you must work, take your lunch,  don’t do any “free market business on this day”.  Make sure your tank is full on the 29th and don’t do any shopping of any kind, even on the internet.   This is a powerful way to demonstrate, that doesn’t require time away from your family… in fact you can enjoy an extra day with family and teach your children about peaceful dissent when government gets out of control and what the Constitution is really about and means to them.   I support this effort 100%. Please send a link to their site to everyone you know that is sick of the spend and tax policies of the Obama administration and Congress!   The inmates are running the asylum,  so it’s time for a shake down.

The Apologist in Chief

Top 10 Obama Apologies

by  Human Events
06/17/2009

Excerpted from article by Niles Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation.

1. Apology to Europe: Speech in Strasbourg, France, April 3. “In America, there’s a failure to appreciate Europe‘s leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.”

2. Apology to the Muslim world: Interview with Al Arabiya, January 27. “My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy. We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect.”

3. Apology to the Summit of the Americas: Address to the Summit of the Americas, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, April 17. “While the United States has done much to promote peace and prosperity in the hemisphere, we have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms.”

4. Apology at the G-20 Summit of World Leaders: News conference in London, April 2. “I just think in a world that is as complex as it is, that it is very important for us to be able to forge partnerships as opposed to simply dictating solutions.”

5. Apology for the War on Terror: Speech in Washington, D.C., May 21. “Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. I believe that many of these decisions were motivated by a sincere desire to protect the American people. But I also believe that all too often our government made decisions based on fear rather than foresight, that all too often our government trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions.”

6. Apology for Guantanamo in France: Speech in Strasbourg, France, April 3. “In dealing with terrorism, we can’t lose sight of our values and who we are. That’s why I closed Guantanamo. That’s why I made very clear that we will not engage in certain interrogation practices. I don’t believe that there is a contradiction between our security and our values. And when you start sacrificing your values, when you lose yourself, then over the long term that will make you less secure.”

7. Apology for America before the Turkish Parliament: Speech to the Turkish Parliament, Ankara, Turkey, April 6. “The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history. Facing the Washington Monument that I spoke of is a memorial of Abraham Lincoln, the man who freed those who were enslaved even after Washington led our Revolution. Our country still struggles with the legacies of slavery and segregation, the past treatment of Native Americans.”

8. Apology for U.S. Policy toward the Americas: Editorial “Choosing a Better Future in the Americas,” April 16. “Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities, and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas.”

9. Apology for the Mistakes of the CIA: Remarks to CIA employees at Langley, Va., April 29. “Don’t be discouraged that we have to acknowledge potentially we’ve made some mistakes.”

10. Apology for Guantanamo: Speech in Washington, D.C., May 21. “There is also no question that Guantanamo set back the moral authority that is America’s strongest currency in the world.”

“Arrogant Americans” is a response to Mr. Obama’s insults and apologies that is extremely well done by Mustang ( written, directed, and produced the video) at  Social Sense and Leslie  (narrating the video presentation) at Blunt Politics.  Every American should watch this video.

I simply would like to know what kind of a man would want to be the President of a nation that he believes is so terrible???

Major Hat tip to Mustang and Leslie for their beautiful job on the deeply moving video.

Cap and Trade Legislation Boondoggle.

Why the Crap and Trade Tax makes Conservatives angry

Let me start with Andrew Clavan’s brilliant explanation on YouTube (shamefully stolen from Social Sense) for the Far Left Wing response to the other side of the “Man made Global Warming Hoax” or any other “spend and borrow from our enemies” scheme.  It is basically “Shut Up”!

Recently an FDA Employee put together some studies that gave evidence that Climate Change is something that has occurred throughout the history of the Earth and is caused by things beyond our control such as volcanic activity and changes with our sun.   The carefully done study and supporting evidence did not go along with what the Obama White House and Democrats in Congress wanted, which was to stick the taxpayers with yet another Tax so they could have more of our money to squander, in the name of yet another “Crisis”.   Their response at the EPA was to tell Mr. Carlin, in essence,  is to  “Shut Up”.

His study was barred from circulation within the EPA and was never disclosed to the public for political reasons, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute, or CEI, a group that has accessed four internal e-mails on the subject.

CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman told WND, “His boss basically told him, ‘No, I’m not going to send your study further up. It’s going to stay within this bureau.’”

A March 12 e-mail to Carlin warned him not to have “any direct communication
with anyone outside NCEE on endangerment.”

Carlin, a researcher who earned his doctorate in economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an undergraduate degree in physics from California Institute of Technology, informed officials that two-thirds of his references were from peer-reviewed publications and defended his inclusion of new research on the topic.

The full story,  “EPA’s own research expert ’shut up’ on climate change” makes for a most interesting read.   It seems when the Democrat moonbat Congressmen and women were fighting to give ‘Chairman O’ what he wants,  which is to utterly destory our Economy and Republic from my observations,  they can’t be bothered with actually reading the bills before they vote, let alone going over documented evidence demonstrating that the basis for the new tax  “just might be a big ole lie”!!!!    If it looks like corruption, smells like corruption and tastes like corruption, it is for certain “We the People” are being scammed by this adminstration and the hidden agendas and special interests they promote.

Andrew Klavan – On the Culture

The Liberal argument – Shut up!

And the following article written by Dr. Roy Spencer, PH.D., Climatologist, Former NASA Scientist is a “must read” for those still buying into the “Global Warming Alarmist” manipulation tool.  Dr. Spencer’s blog and more on the topic is  “I Love CarbonDioxide”

Cap and Trade and the illusion of the New Green Economy

Tomorrow I will be working on an article about Climate Change and the Crisis Stategy known as the Cloward Pivan Stategy.  It will be pretty interesting given the events of the last few months.   Stay tuned.

From the Libertarian Party of Indiana

School Choice the Saving Grace of Special Session Disaster

Report from The Liberator Online

Indianapolis, IN – School choice and educational reform were at the center of the budget fight, and in the end, the taxpayer and students won. This budget ends the unquestioned support of the failing public education system, and creates a spark for alternative educational choices to be created. The General Assembly passed a pilot program for online virtual schools, and created a $2.5 million a year tax credit for private schools. The destructive caps for charter schools on charter schools have been removed, which may provide additional future funding through grants.

“The last 175 days of the General Assembly have been a disaster,” said Libertarian Party State Chairman Sam Goldstein. “It was a disgrace that over $150,000 went into the pockets of old party professional politicians who squabbled like children. In the end, there was at least one shining spot in all of this: a chance to educate our children in a proper and effective manner. Our public education system is totally broken, and should no longer be supported. This was a step in the right direction, but does not go far enough. The Libertarian Party of Indiana will run 100 State House and 25 State Senate candidates to ensure that total education reform is implemented.”

We have cause to give thanks on this Independence Day for the gain and hope school children now have in the Hoosier state.  Happy Independence Day to all my readers.

From Major Dick Winters’ WWII Memoirs

I personally think that this should be “required reading” along with the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and  Bill of Rights, for our House of Representatives and Senate.  In my opinion, they have continually demonstrated that most of them do not possess a modicum of spinal fortitude or leadership skills.

Leadership at the Point of the Bayonet

Ten Principals for Success

1. Strive to be a leader of character, competence, and courage.

2. Lead from the front.  Say, “Follow me!” and then lead the way.

3. Stay in top physical shape—physical stamina is the root of mental toughness.

4. Develop your team.  If you know your people, are fair in setting realistic goals and expectations, and lead by example, you will develop teamwork.

5. Delegate responsibility to your subordinates and let them do their jobs.  You can’t do a good job if you don’t have a chance to use your imagination and your creativity.

6. Anticipate problems and prepare to overcome obstacles.  Don’t wait until you get to the top of the ridge and then make up your mind.

7. Remain humble.  Don’t worry about who recieves the credit.  Never let power or authority go to your head.

8. Take a moment of self-reflection.  Look at yourself in the mirror every night and ask yourself if you did your best.

9. True satisfaction comes from getting the job done.  The key to a successful leader is to earn respect—not because of rank or position, but because you are a leader of character.

10. Hang Tough!—Never, ever, give up.

U.S. Marines launch major offensive in Afghanistan

This post is in support of our troops going in harm’s way in Afghanistan right now.  They are my heroes, and are on the top of my prayer list as they go forward to try to make a difference.

U.S. Marines launch major offensive in Afghanistan

From the article:

Officials described the offensive — dubbed Khanjar or “Strike of the Sword” — as the largest and fastest-moving of the war’s new phase and the biggest Marine offensive since the one in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004. It involves nearly 4,000 newly arrived Marines plus 650 Afghan forces. British forces last week led similar, but smaller, missions to clear out insurgents in Helmand and neighboring Kandahar province.

“Where we go we will stay, and where we stay, we will hold, build and work toward transition of all security responsibilities to Afghan forces,” Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Larry Nicholson said in a statement.

You can read the entire news article by clicking on the title link above.

U.S. Marines launch key operation in Afghanistan

By Peter Graff — Reuter’s UK reporter

SORKHDOZ, Afghanistan (Reuters) – Thousands of U.S. Marines stormed deep into Taliban territory in an Afghan valley on Thursday, marking the start of a major new effort by the Obama administration to regain the initiative in the war.

The Marines met little resistance on day one of Operation Khanjar, or Strike of the Sword, to seize almost all the lower Helmand River valley, heartland of the Taliban insurgency and the world’s biggest opium poppy producing region.

One U.S. Marine was killed and several others were wounded during the day, the Marines said in a statement, adding that they had not received any confirmed reports of civilian casualties or damage to property.

Article continues…

Other news from Afghanistan:

Taliban nabs US soldier in Afghanistan

However the offensive was overshadowed by news of what the military said is the first capture of an American soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan in two to three years.

“A US soldier who has been missing since June 30 from his assigned unit is believed to have been captured by militant forces,” said US military spokeswoman Captain Elizabeth Mathias. “We are using all of our available resources to find him and provide for his safe return.”

A commander of the Taliban’s Haqqani faction, named Bahram, said his militia had captured the soldier in Paktika province, along with three Afghan guards.

He said the soldier had been taken to “a safe place” and demands would likely be made for his release.

“Our leaders have not decided on the fate of this soldier. They will decide on his fate and soon we will present video tapes of the coalition soldier and our demand to media,” he said.

The US military has described the al-Qa’ida-linked Haqqani network as one of the “most lethal Taliban organisations”.

The missing soldier was captured outside his base and was not part of the new US-led operation, in which about 4000 US marines and 650 Afghan troops mobilised yesterday with orders to clear the southern region of militants and restore government services.

The entire news article can be accessed by clicking on the title link above.

All who love America and our troops, please remember these brave men and women who are fighting, pray for the families of the fallen and wounded, and pray that the soldier being held captive, is safely released.  We cannot love and support our military enough right now.

Sunday Reflection 6-21-09

serving_fathers

Having received the latest newsletter from Cat Moy, Executive Director of Move America Forward, that has become first and foremost, on my mind for this Sunday.  It goes like this:

We can’t Forget American Father’s in Iraq and Afghanistan

While we are enjoying our families during this Father’s Day, sharing time with our children, we have close to 100,000 father’s who are in Iraq and Afghanistan without the joy and pleasure of being home.  They are lonely as they heroically do their duty of protecting America by defeating the terrorist threat in the Middle East.

Move America Forward is trying to send care packages of goodies that our military men and women want.  We are sending their favorite Oreo cookies, jelly beans, Gatorade, premium beef jerky and coffee.  In addition, small comfort items that are sometimes hard to come by, like lip balm, baby wipes, deodorant and bug repellent.

Won’t you honor a father away in Iraq or Afghanistan by sponsoring a care package today?  Click on the Move America Forward icon to go arrange to send a package to a troop.  It is so easy to do.

maf_email_icon
I was going to post some scripture here, but I think this reflects so much of what “serving is about”. After all, the American serviceman and woman risks life and limb to insure our freedom and Christ died to insure our salvation. We owe them both much.

From Social Sense… to obvious to pass up!

Yesterday, my brilliant friend Mustang at Social Sense,  put up a math problem that quite frankly should be added to the “Captain Obvious Handbook Hall of Shame”.  I was rather busy yesterday dealing with life beyond the utter stupidity of our so called leaders, so I didn’t put it up here.  Today, as I watch our spineless “Community Planner-in-Chief” spend his day making yet again,  a mockery of the Constitution of the United States and blowing away our national dignity, I wish to make yet another point about this “insane regime”.

I would like to personally send a message to the Senate and House of Representitives.  “Hey Congress, We the People are coming”!!! We are inconveniencing our lives and loved ones, spending money we don’t have,  putting our important issues on the back burner, all because you have done such a dismally poor job!   We are sending you a message that you will not ignore lest you pay the price in 2010! The day of reckoning for your horrible records of spend, spend, spend and accountability for your irresponsible behavior is coming and We are coming!!!

And now… the Math Problem that says it all! …Hat tip to Mustang at Social Sense.

Annual Math Quiz

Setting Up The Problem

There are 300 million people living in the United States

There are 50 million people living in the United States without health care

There are 20 million people living in the United States who are illegal aliens

Of the 30 million people living legally in the United States without health care, 15 million opted not to participate in employer-sponsored health coverage plans

Of the 15 million people living legally in the United States who legitimately do not have health care, 16 million will receive full coverage under the new health care proposals offered by ‘Senator Ted Kennedy’  by the year 2016

The costs to ensure 16 million of the 15 million eligible recipients is $3 Trillion over ten years

Find

Any member of the Administration or Congress who isn’t a complete idiot

And one comment on his site drove the point home:

I showed this post to a government worker.  She asked,  “So…what’s the problem?”

A lady in Arizona wrote Glenn Beck and what a letter it is!

On Glenn Beck today he read a letter written to him by a lady in Arizona.   You must read it, as it speaks of the movement to stop this insanity with our Congress and President.   It says everything those of us who have watching the unprecedented power grabs and fiscal irresponsibility have been feeling.  I am putting up the last two paragraphs, but please go to the site and read the letter in it’s entirety.

Also while you are there,  read Glenn’s interview with the lady who authored the letter.   My thanks and gratitude to the mother, and grandmother for speaking out so eloquently.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your re-election and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done.  You work for us and at this rate, I guarantee you, not for long because we are coming.  We will be heard and we will be represented.  You think we’re so busy with our lives that we will never come for you?  We are the  ‘formerly silent majority’,  all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us,  the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long.  You have pushed us too far.  Our numbers are great.  They may surprise you.  For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come.  Unlike you, we have their trust.  We will represent them honestly, rest assured.  They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office.  We have canceled vacations.  We will use our last few dollars saved.  We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish.  We didn’t ask for this fight.  But the gloves are coming off.  We do not come in violence, but we are angry.  You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will.   There are candidates among us and they will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our Constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian.  Understand this.  We don’t care.  Political parties are meaningless to us.  Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now.  We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more.  It is NOT your power. It is ours and we want it back.   We are ashamed of you.  You have brought shame to us.  If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired.  Did you hear?  We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them.   Because we will get you fired and they will not save you.  If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up.  Make your identity known.  You need to make some noise about it.  Speak up.  I need to know who you are.  If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one.  We are coming.  Are we coming for you?  Who do you represent?  What do you represent?   Listen.  Because we are coming.  We the People are coming.

For those leaders who do not understand what is being expressed by LARGE NUMBERS of American citizens who are fed up with the games people play in Washington, DC, let me give you the Cliff’s Notes version.

  • We the People are sick of our elected leaders IGNORING We the People and legislating according to what special intestests, lobbyists, political party bosses, Union bosses, and campaign financeers WANT!!!
  • We the People are sick of reckless fiscal behaviors on the part of the leaders in Congress.  It’s not your money, it’s ours!
  • We don’t want Government Health Care, Amnesty or money going out for pork projects.
  • Quit taking a massive dump on the Constitution on a daily basis!  Read it, use it as a guideline for what you are doing, and RESPECT it!!!

Listen up Leaders!!!  We are coming in great numbers in September, to hold you accountable!

Hat Tip to Glenn Beck and a lady patriot in Arizona!

Update:  I saw Glenn’s interview with this wonderful lady yesterday and she has a name.  I tip my hat to Janet Contreras and express my gratitude for her expression of love for our country!  Thank you Janet.

Daily Reflection and Prayer – Mark D. Roberts

Daily Reflection and Prayer
by Mark D. Roberts
Laity Lodge Senior Director and Scholar-in-Residence

Defending Truth, Humility, and Justice

READ Psalm 45:1-17

In your majesty, ride out to victory,
defending truth, humility, and justice.
Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds!
[Psalm 45:4]

When I was a boy, I loved watching the Adventures of Superman on our black-and-white Motorola television set. How I longed to be just like that “strange visitor from another planet” who fought a “never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way.”

Superman, ironically enough, has much in common with the king who is praised in Psalm 45. This psalm is unusual in that it is addressed, not to God or to the people of Israel, but to the king on the occasion of his wedding (45:13-15). In verse 4, the psalmist urges the king to “ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice.” That’s not exactly “truth, justice, and the American way,” but two out of three ain’t half bad.

When we pray for our leaders, as Scripture urges us to do (1 Tim. 2:2), we should ask the Lord to lead them in the ways of truth, humility, and justice. Yet Psalm 45:4 also provides a model for our behavior in the world. We too are to be people of truth, humility, and justice.

As people of truth, we will speak and live in a way that reflects God and his revelation. In a world of falsehood, in which truth itself is under attack, we will seek the truth in all things, stand for the truth in what we say and do.

As people of humility, we will never speak the truth in a way that is haughty, as if the truth belongs to us.  Moreover, we will always see ourselves as subjects of the King of kings, and offer our lives to him and to others as servants.  Thus we will imitate the humble servanthood of Jesus.

As people of justice, we will treat all people fairly and will work for a world that offers justice to all. We will be especially committed to doing justice for the poor and powerless. Where we have been given authority, in our work, our families, our churches, or our community, we will strive for just systems that reflect the character of God.

When you “ride out” today into the world, defend truth, humility, and justice as God’s viceroy, God’s servant.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION: How can you express your commitment to truth today?  How can you live with humility?  How can you seek God’s justice in your part of the world?

PRAYER:   O Lord, even as the king was to be a person of truth, humility, and justice, so am I. You have called me to speak and to live truthfully. I am to imitate the humility of Jesus and to seek your justice in all things. Help me, dear Lord, to be this kind of person in all that I do.

Even as I go through this day, may your Spirit bring to mind ways that I can be more truthful, more humble, and more just. To you be all the glory. Amen.

Apocolypse in the here and now – The Sunday post.

According to an email recieved,  a pastor’s wife wrote this in biblical prose as a commentary of current events. In my humble opinion, it is chillingly accurate.  If anyone knows for certain who the author is, please leave a comment and let me know, as I would love to give this individual credit for this excellent work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land called America , having lost their morals, their initiative, and their will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that person known as “The One.”
He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He hypnotized the people telling them, “I am sent to save you.  My lack of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my association with evil doers are of no consequence; for I shall save you with Hope and Change.
Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the land that he who preceded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation, and that all he has built must be destroyed.”  And the people rejoiced, for even though they knew not what “The One” would do, he had promised that it was good; and they believed.
And “The One” said “We live in the greatest country in the world.  Help me change everything about it!”  And the people said, “Hallelujah!  Change is good!”
Then He said, “We are going to tax the rich fat-cats.”  And the people said, “Sock it to them!”
“And redistribute their wealth.”  And the people said, “Show us the money!”
And then He said, “Redistribution of wealth is good for everybody”
And Joe the plumber asked, “Are you kidding me?  You’re going to steal my money and give it to the deadbeats?”  And “The One” ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe’s personal records were hacked and publicized.
One lone reporter asked, “Isn’t that Marxist policy?”  And she was banished from the kingdom!
Then a citizen asked, “With no foreign relations experience and having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with radical terrorists?”
And “The One” said, “Simple.  I shall sit with them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!”
And the people said, “Hallelujah!  We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons into free cars for the people!”
Then “The One” said, “I shall give 95% of you lower taxes.”
And one, lone voice said, “But 40% of us don’t pay ANY taxes.”
So “The One” said, “Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!”
And the people said, “Hallelujah!  Show us the money!”
Then “The One” said, “I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!”
And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed.
And He said, “I shall mandate employer-funded health care for EVERY worker and raise the minimum wage.  And I shall give every person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the clinics.”
And the people said, “Give me some of that!”
Then he said, “I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas.”
And the people said, “Where’s my rebate check?”
Then “The One” said, “I shall bankrupt the coal industry and electricity rates will skyrocket!”
And the people said, “Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more coal!  But we don’t care for that part about higher electric rates.”
So “The One” said, “Not to worry.  If your rebate isn’t enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out.  Just sign up with ACORN and your troubles are over!”
Then He said, “Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted.  Let’s grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, and bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing…”
And the people said, “Hallelujah!”  And they made him King!  And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers.  Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff.  The banking industry was destroyed.  Manufacturing slowed to a crawl.  And more of the people were without a means of support.
Then “The One” said, “I am the “The One” – The Messiah – and I’m here to save you!  We shall just print more money so everyone will have enough!”
But our foreign trading partners said unto Him, “Wait a minute.  Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung!  You will have to pay more…”
And the people said, “Wait a minute.  That is unfair!”
And the world said, “Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced.  Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!”
And the people cried out, “Alas, alas!  What have we done?”
But yea verily, it was too late.  The people set upon “The One,” spat upon him, and stoned him, and his name was dung.  And the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance, shelter, or hope.  And the Change “The One” had given them was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built.
And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish, “Give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!”  But it was too late, and their homeland was no more.
You may think this is a fairy tale, but it’s not.  It’s happening right now!
Miranda Rights given to Enemy Combatants.
It is difficult to imagine that anyone believes that a foreign combatant is entitled to the protection of the United States Constitution, but that is exactly what some people here in America believe. Andy McCarthy, writing for the National Review offers his interesting analysis, and of course, there seems no loss of an opportunity for the left vs. right banality as demonstrated at News Hounds.   But is anyone seriously looking at the illogical conclusions that terrorists are somehow entitled to protection under our Fifth Amendment?
What makes this worse, however, is that the government cannot seem to make up its mind whether offering 5th Amendment protection to terrorists is part of Barack Obama’s design to expand “justice” throughout the world, if the story is simply a figment of someone’s imagination, or whether there has been a serious miscommunication reaching from here to Afghanistan.   According to Newsmax,  Congressman Mike Rodgers saw it for himself.
Here in an interview, President Obama states that giving Miranda rights to terrorists would not be appropriate, but now our troops have recieved an Presidential order to do so.
Foreign terrorists are NOT entitled to Constitutional protection.  But even more disturbing is the lack of government transparency on this issue.  On the one hand, Barack Obama has indicated that the United States would not offer such warnings to terrorists, and yet this is exactly what is happening on the battlefront.  What is the truth?
Finally, the purpose of battlefield interrogation is to illicit intelligence information about the enemy.   Field intelligence gathering is a life-saving measure designed to increase our own country’s efficiency, while diminishing the enemy’s success in terrorist activities.  Who will be willing to provide information once they are told that they do not have to answer any questions? This is simply insane.
Don’t Miss This!!!  Mustang at Social Sense has written an excellent blog post on this topic.  I consider it a must read on the subject!  The first paragraph is as follows:
Mr. Obama’s desire to expand justice throughout the world appears to be taking us down a very slippery slope. One might even say it is a downward spiraling, returning our country to the awesome Clinton years, when our government looked upon terrorism as a ‘law enforcement’ issue. Naturally, Eric Holder, one of Obama’s closest advisors and fellow admirer of Georgie Soros and Norm Chomsky, could not be happier.
A wonderful video put together by a 15 year old girl
This is something you must view.  It was put together by 15 year old Lizzie Palmer and is by far the best tribute to our troops and the families who love and support them, that I have seen. A big ole hat tip to Lizzie, great job!
Pelosi Wants Release of Interrogation Pictures
On Nancy Pelosi’s refusal to cover our troops backs, by not backing down from calling for the release of interrogation photos.
Ms. Pelosi may be an experienced legislator, and she may occupy an important position in our government as Speaker of the House … but in terms of her position on releasing interrogation photographs, she is either mentally disturbed, or she is a traitor to her country, its people, and those who place themselves in harms way,  in the interests of protecting these same people.
What Nancy Pelosi is doing is not credible.   On the one hand, she states that our CIA lies to members of Congress, but on the other hand, she produces no evidence to substantiate her claims.  So then, what is her motivation for selling out civilian and military interrogators?   Does she seek to punish our good and faithful servants simply because they carried out the lawful orders of their government?  Does she seek to provide aid and comfort to the enemy by handing them an immoral victory?
This behavior is no more than petty politics at its worst.  And I think Ms. Pelosi needs professional help, as she apparently suffers from “Bush Derangement Syndrome.”  Mr. Obama has requested that she not release those photographs.  Granted, Mr. Obama could prohibit their release (if he wanted to), but this is not acceptable behavior by members of Congress, and I do think that she places our guardians in harms way.
Per an article in NewsMax by Dan Well, please note the words of President Obama and ask yourself why this woman is blatantly ignoring her President!
President Obama reversed course last month to side with the senators and fight the release of the photographs.
“The publication of these photos would not add any additional benefit to our understanding of what was carried out in the past by a small number of individuals,” Obama told reporters.
“In fact, the most direct consequence of releasing them, I believe, would be to further inflame anti-American opinion and to put our troops in greater danger.”
Unless one happens to live in her home congressional district, there is little any of us can do about voting Nancy Pelosi out of Congress, but I do not think she deserves to serve as Speaker of the House. Responsible members of the Democratic Party should vote her out of office.
Senseless murders in our troubled society
Pvt William Long
For those who wish to honor this fallen soldier, the family requests contributions in Andy’s name be made to The Wounded Warriors Project , which is one very wonderful organization in my humble opinion.
On the death of Private William “Andy” Long, and the Nut Jobs who kill people
There are so many senseless and outrageous events of late; it is difficult to know where to begin.  I do want to express my deepest and most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Private Andy Long.   I cannot imagine how horrible they must feel losing a beloved son to a senseless murder.
And then we had the senseless murder of abortionist Dr. Tiller and the meaningless killing of security guard Stephen Johns Jr. at the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C.  It was heart breaking to see the interview by a local journalist of Mr. Johns’ son; a young boy whose best friend was taken from him.
I have noted that there are people on both sides of the political divide who pointed fingers and developed outrageous and petty assumptions.  So let me make my point on the matter.
Human beings are not perfect, and there are both good and evil individuals no matter where you go on this planet.  There are sufficient examples of this among Christians, Jews, and Muslims.  But to say that a radical Christian perpetuates murder among abortionists simply reflects a lack of understanding about what it is to be a Christian.  A true follower of Christ strives to become “like Christ.”  He or she does not plan and carry out wanton acts of murder.  Nowhere in the Bible will anyone find examples of Jesus of Nazareth behaving irrationally, even when he threw the moneychangers out of the temple.  Christ went out into the world and placed himself among the sinners.  He ministered to them with love.  He healed them, fed them, and showed them compassion.  Anyone who acts contrary to these examples and His teaching without remorse and repentance is simply not a true Christian.
People who wantonly kill others are simply disturbed, even if not clinically insane.  They demonstrate abhorrent behavior; they are social deviants, and we ought to begin looking at them in that light, rather than making a correlation to their professed religious affiliation.  These kinds of people are usually filled with hate and anger; in their mind, such acts of depravity are justified.  As an example, the man who killed Dr. Tiller mistakenly believed that he had a right, or the responsibility to judge another human being.  “Judge not,” the scripture tells us, “lest you be judged.”
The murderers of Private Long and Mr. Johns were consumed with hate; they had already demonstrated a penchant for this kind of behavior.  Their sicknesses drove them to pursue the ideology of idiocy.  They may claim to hear voices in their heads, but it was not the voice of God.  How odd that in a nation that prides itself on protecting society, we can only incarcerate such people after they have committed terrible acts.
Those who would use any of these tragedies to promote their own political agenda, even when it increases the pain of surviving families, should hang their heads in shame.  They lack common decency and a sense of appropriate behavior.  I pray for God’s blessings on the families of those who were murdered, I pray for the redemption of those who took away innocent lives, and I pray for the petty politicians who are behaving poorly.
The Significance of D-Day, 65 Years Ago Today.
For those of us who grew up with parents who were living during WWII, America’s role in joining the fight to free the oppressed people of Europe was never “played down”.  We heard stories from our parents, relatives and even the numerous people who immigrated here from Europe after the war.  There was never any question about what our participation was about.  It was about insuring the freedom of our allies from a tyrant who waged war against neighboring nations and murdered those who did not “fit into the mold of the master race”.  We were part of securing the greater good of humanity against one of the most heinous tyrants of our time, Adolf Hitler.
No one summed up D-Day and it’s significance better than President Ronald Reagan in his 40th anniversary speech at Normandy.
Yesterday, the man elected President of my country stood before the people of Cairo Egypt and told a story of America that quite frankly was an outright lie!  What this clearly demonstrates is because the American public is so easily brainwashed by campaign tactics via their television sets and don’t research or demand facts during the primary elections, our nation elected a man who is inexperienced and clearly ignorant of what America is.  He is a failed community planner (just ask the people of Chicago who were living in the “project housing” that he and his cronies built!) who does not care about the American people, the Constitution or our history.  No Mr. Obama, there were NO Islamic people on the Mayflower!
During WWII there were of course people that felt we had no stake in what was going on in Europe.  But as time progressed it became impossible for the isolationist to prevent reality from setting in “that there are and always will be those people in power that will try to impose their will over others and do great harm to innocents in the process.”  Enter the “Greatest Generation”, the recognition that what happens to other good people in the world does and always will affect us and this country.  You can’t drink the Koolaid, sing Kumbayah and hope for the best.  Fortunately for the world in 1941 we were not overwhelmed by the wishful thinking apologists who would try to make peace at any cost to freedom, like we have now.  Of course England had such a man in Chamberlain.  He tried the Obama approach to peacemaking with tyrants and ended up vilified because it almost destroyed England.   By the time D-Day came, as Mustang showed on his memorial post quote, then General Eisenhower summed it up very nicely.
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world….
Read the rest of the quote on Social Sense.  It is the truest celebration of what our parents and grandparents did for the people of Europe, our legacy and freedom worldwide.  No one can ever say the words of gratitude to those who gave their lives on a battlefield, many of which had young and promising futures at stake, but they CAN refuse to forget the precious gift given by these souls to preserve our freedom and defend the Constitution and all it means to the numerous people who live here.  I say Thank You to all who served and give my undying gratitude to all the heroes who gave their all for my freedom.
And on another note, please view this You Tube presentation from the Mark Levin radio show.  A young military wife called in to give her thoughts and feelings on President Obama’s speech in Cairo, Egypt.  It will make you think twice about the man in the White House.
Always remember those who have served and sacrificed and support those who are on the home front supporting them in their mission.
Invasion of NormandyNormandy Landings
This picture communicates much more than any number of words; for the dead lie peacefully, and the living continues to remember the horror of war, and the pain of brothers lost.
Why is Harry Reid still considered a “leader”?
For those who still don’t believe that Harry Reid is totally incompetent…. They don’t care who they appoint to the Supreme Court…a lifetime appointment, they don’t care if they secure our borders, they don’t care that they are building appalling debt for future generations to pay… would someone please tell me what the darn liberals in Congress do care about?… maybe it is absolute POWER!!!
Reid: ignorance is bliss – from the  American Thinker Blog
Ed Lasky
Commentary’s Jennifer Rubin notes an appalling statement from Harry Reid, which, she writes, “gives no-nothingism a bad name”
“I understand that during her career, she’s [Sotomayor] written hundreds and hundreds of opinions. I haven’t read a single one of them, and if I’m fortunate before we end this, I won’t have to read one of them.”
Imagine if the GOP leader in the Senate had said this.
According to “Concepts of Leadership”, a leader is defined as:
Before we get started, lets define leadership.  Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent.  Leaders carry out this process by applying their leadership attributes, such as beliefs, values, ethics, character, knowledge, and skills.   Although your position as a manager, supervisor, lead, etc. gives you the authority to accomplish certain tasks and objectives in the organization, this power does not make you a leader, it simply makes you the boss. Leadership differs in that it makes the followers want to achieve high goals, rather than simply bossing people around.
This is pretty much a “classic interpretation”  of what leadership is.  Personally, I don’t and haven’t seen to many of the qualities of leadership from Harry Reid.  If as citizens of America, we do not raise the bar on our expectations of our elected leaders we seal our own fate, which won’t be a pretty one.  My personal opinion is Reid and Pelosi are both the equivilent of mob bosses, not leaders on Capitol Hill.  I don’t care what party is in control, we need to have the expectation that they will exemplifiy the standards of leadership when serving as Senators and Congressmen.
Digest – 06-02-09
So many things are taking place right now that they are too numerous to mention and write about, so it’s HAM’s Digest time.  Items of concern today:
Muslim Extremist Kills Young Soldier at Army Recruiting Office in Arkansas (from Move America Forward):
Today in Little Rock, AR, a Muslim extremist shot up a recruiting center with an assault rifle from his black SUV.  He killed 23-year-old Private William Long and injured Private Quinton Ezeagwula, both of the US Army. The suspect, Muslim convert Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, is in custody and police say he likely had “political and religious motives.”
At Move America Forward, we’ve been sounding the alarm about violence against our recruiters and their offices since our days in the streets of Berkeley, CA taking on the Code Pink whackos.  While Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is worried about extremists protesting at tea parties, nobody bothered to investigate the Islamic extremist killer in this case who was recently in Yemen.
While Barack Obama keeps trying to protect the rights of Muslim terrorists at Guantanamo Bay and even free some of them in the United States, Americans are being killed right here in the United States, not to mention being under constant attack in Iraq and Afghanistan.  What will it take to wake him up to the real threat faced by Americans?
We have to keep our voices loud and strong to wake up so many Americans that are taken in by the calm speeches while he continues to undermine American security and our efforts to defeat Islamic terrorism.
Meanwhile:   Obama Invites Iran to July 4th Parties
Pentagon: Ex-Gitmo detainees turning to terrorism on rise
Calif. District Creates Primary School Gay Curriculum
And it seems even the extreme far left moonbats like Ted Rall (the guy who wrote an attack piece on Pat Tilman!) appears to be disenchanted with Hope and Change.  This puts me in mind of the feeling you get when mamma guppy gives birth and you wake up to discover she has eaten all her offspring:
Ted Rall: It’s increasingly evident that Obama should resign
And apparently your right to go to the polls and vote your conscious unmolested as guaranteed by the Constitution means nothing to the Obama Administration.  And why should it, since they have made sure the ever corrupt ACORN is able to operate illegal voter registration and mob politics on business men unchecked and even get millions in tax payer dollars to boot!
Charges Against ‘New Black Panthers’ Dropped by Obama Justice Dept.
Alexander’s Essay – 28 May 2009 Patriot Post -  MUST READ!!!
Marine Aviator’s Memorial Day Wave Off
And the ban below would appear to mean “no one dare question the Stimulus” when speaking with the Obama Administration!  Next we will be denied access to our Senators and Congressmen.
A ban on lobbyists from communicating orally with the Obama administration now pertains to all persons in matters pertaining to stimulus expenditures.
There has been such a barrage of objectionable details coming at us from the government that I can’t keep up with it all.   I know we are losing rights and liberties daily under this administration.
I will take the time to say that my sincere condolences go out to the family of George Tiller who was senselessly murdered on Sunday by a lunatic I may not of agreed with Dr. Tiller,  but I think if this man who did this senseless act gets the full punishment allowed by law, it won’t be enough.  No one resolves an issue by taking a life.  What kind of a nut thinks that way?  A nut… need I say more?
Digest of sorts 05-28-09
Since I am quite busy right now acting on my personal issues (home improvements, job concerns in a bad market, kids, etc), I am creating a digest of topics and readings that might be of interest to concerned citizens and readers.  I apologize for neglecting things of late, but between the depression I feel just watching events unfold on the news and my need to get gainfully employed, my time has been limited.
I move forward with a blog post that is most informative about the issue of AIG and it’s connect to Islamic extremism.  Of course the mainstream media isn’t abuzz about the topic, but as stated at Social Sense this morning:
“In December 2008, the Thomas More Law Center filed a lawsuit against the U. S. Government on behalf of Kevin J. Murray, who as a taxpayer, objects to the government forcing him (a Christian) to subsidize Islamic religious practices.”
For anyone who has been curious to know the details of this lawsuit, why it came to be and the exact details of how our own companies are playing a part in promoting Islamic extremism, it is an excellent read.  The post is titled “Why We Need Lawyers”, so just click on the link and go there.
Elsewhere in the blogsphere….
If you still think we are on the path to economic recovery anytime soon you may want to take a look at the ever ticking US Debt Clock!  …courtesy of my Indiana leader at SGP.
And it is a good time to connect the dots on just how much pandering to illegal aliens, jacking taxes on the working class to finance entitlements and creating a “Club Med” atmosphere for the over crowded prisons in California has  led to the mass exodus of many Californians to states like Nevada that have made saner choices.
And the wonderful “Stimulus Package” that is supposed to help those “hardest his by the economic meltdown”, the bill that had to be passed in a hurry to help Americans… remember that one.  Well according to USA Today, it has bypassed states hardest hit by the economic trauma of recent months.  Imagine that… more lies from our leaders!
Stimulus projects bypass hard-hit states – By Brad Heath, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — States hit hardest by the recession received only a few of the government’s first stimulus contracts, even though the glut of new federal spending was meant to target places where the economic pain has been particularly severe.
Nationwide, federal agencies have awarded nearly $4 billion in contracts to help jump-start the economy since President Obama signed the massive stimulus package in February. But, with few exceptions, that money has not reached states where the unemployment rate is highest, according to a USA TODAY review of contracts disclosed through the Federal Procurement Data System.
In Michigan, for example — where years of economic tumult and a collapsing domestic auto industry have produced the nation’s worst unemployment rate — federal agencies have spent about $2 million on stimulus contracts, or 21 cents per person. In Oregon, where unemployment is almost as high, they have spent $2.12 per capita, far less than the nationwide average of nearly $13.
That money “is needed nowhere more than it is needed in Michigan,” says Leslee Fritz, a spokeswoman for the Michigan Economic Recovery Office, which is coordinating stimulus efforts in that state. She said officials are generally satisfied with the pace of federal aid, but added, “We certainly feel very intensely the need to move quickly.”
Read the rest at “Stimulus Contracts by State”.
Is it any wonder that American’s all over the country are buzzing about taking their country back?  Our leaders lie to and manipulate us daily, fail to protect us as evidenced by the “let’s talk and sing kumbaya”  Foreign Policy with our enemies and pandering to idiot governments like North Korea and Iran (see todays news about North Korea!).  Our economy still flails under outrageous deficits, that are made more incredible by the printing of a trillion dollars; backed only by our ever increasing, outrageous debts!  Can you say “hyperinflation”???
The news is just so much more of the left pushing for policies and idiologies that will push this nation under and out of existence. Progressivism is the death knell and if you want to see what it fosters, just look at what it has done for California!   This is the result of the new “Hope and Change America”, and it’s only just started.
Arlington Cemetery – the story behind the story.
This is my Memorial Day post.  It has to do with the “original pain” that is behind Arlington National Cemetery.  It starts with  the great-granddaughter of Martha Washington, Mary Anne Randolph Custis Lee, her father being Washington Custis, the adopted son of George Washington.  The estate of Arlington was left to Mary Custis Lee’s father and passed on to her and her husband, Robert E. Lee.   It was her beloved ancestral home.  The outbreak of the American Civil War created the necessity for her to leave Arlington House, as her husband had chose, as men on both sides had to choose, to fight for Virginia.  Prior to the civil war, people were prone to swear alligence and loyalty to their home states, so this was not an isolated event.  This is how Arlington House probably looked (without grave stones and tour buses of course) when Mrs. Lee was forced to leave and locate herself and her children in Richmond, VA.
arlington-house-picture
Enter Quartermaster/Brigadier General Montgomery Meigs.  You can read about this honorable soldier’s stellar career here. Now the Army Quartermaster history page states in it’s bio how the cemetery came into being as:
General Meigs recommended that property in Arlington, Virginia owned by Mary Custis Lee, the wife of Robert E. Lee, be used as a military burial ground. Based on this recommendation, Arlington National Cemetery was created in 1864.  In October of that same year, his son, First Lieutenant John Rodgers Meigs was killed at Swift Run Gap in Virginia. He is buried at Arlington Cemetery.
Now the story, behind the story is the fact the General Meigs so deeplly resented Robert E. Lee’s decision to resign his commission as an officer in the U.S. Army to join the Confederate cause, upon Mrs. Lee’s departure, the embers in the fireplace of Arlington House were still hot when he moved to make the house a headquarters for Union officers. General Meigs blamed Lee’s refusal to stick with service to the Union for prolonging the war, so when his beloved son was killed at Swift Run Gap, he ordered that his body be laid to rest in “Mrs. Lee’s Rose Garden”. It is the very human part of interaction during challenging times. Meig’s personal pain is forever enshrined at Arlington.
At the close of the American Civil War, Mrs. Lee not only lost her beloved ancestral home and left to bear the injustice of it (it was one of many unconstitutional actions taken by Lincoln and the Union).   Also, her health had deteriorated and her beloved husband returned a broken man in spirit and in health as well.  The war had taken a toll and the sacrifice had shortened lives and destroyed fortunes.   Robert E. Lee eventually was offered the presidency of the struggling Washington College (now Washington and Lee University)  in Lexington, VA. During his few years before his death, he brought it back to a viable institution of higher learning, and his son took up the mantle after his death in 1871.   Mrs. Lee passed away two years later, still holding bitterness over the loss of her home and birthright.  Her losses and grief being felt for the last few years of her life.
Knowing this story behind the honored resting place of so many of our fallen warriors, is to understand the grief and pain that those who lose their loved ones in any war,  must endure.  From it’s beginning, Arlington has been about pride in our nation and those who serve, but also about personal loss, suffering and grief.  One of the most moving photos I’ve seen from Arlington is the photo of Mary McHugh who lost her fiance, Sgt. James J. Regan in Iraq.  Mary has joined league with the honored loved ones who, as Lincoln so eloquently described, “laid down such a precious sacrifice on the alter of freedom”.   In my mind Arlington Cemetery has become the symbol of the honored sacrifices made by Americans for hundreds of years, and so we must honor them and never forget what it means.  God bless America and all our warriors who swear the oath to defend it at all costs.
I was struck by the Filthy Blog Cooties
It seems I have been struck by the “Filthy, (dreaded) Blog Cootie Bug” courtesy of my good friend Stogie at Sabrepoint.  What this means is that I must now share eight random thoughts or factoids about myself with my blog readers (all 2 or 3 of them!!!)… chuckling!!!  Prepare for one of my more boring posts to date.  (No wisecracks in the comments please!)
1.   I love animals, but especially I love dogs and horses.  I have never understood how anyone could do something cruel or mean to a dog or horse.  They are loyal and serve man so well.  I have a male German Shepherd who is close to 9 years old.  I know that this dog adores me and would give his own life to protect me.  As I would put the hurt on anyone who would harm my sons, I would do the same to anyone who hurt my dogs.  My other dog is Rhia.  She is a GS and retriever mix.  She is loving and sweet and very needy.  She also has epeliptic siezures.  I give her a lot of love and comfort to see her through and in trade she gives me unconditional love.  I don’t know what I would do without them.
2.   I took 7 years of private art classes from age 7-14.  My private art teacher, Dorothy had a huge impact on my life.  When she moved to Florida when I was 14, it was the saddest day of my life.  When I went to college at 18, I was an art major, but my heart wasn’t in it.  I didn’t take it up again until I was in my early 30’s and then I did ink and watercolor.  Having a young baby at the time, I didn’t want oil paint around him because of the lead.  When I found out later that before Dorothy died she had memory issues and had gone blind from lead poisoning, I decided to learn to paint with acrylics, which I am into now.
3.   My maternal grandparents had grandfathers who fought for the Confederacy in the American Civil War.  I have some of the personal stories of hardship my great, great, great grandparents faced, brought on by passing Union troops, during the conflict.  All the geneology done led me to reading lots of books on the Civil War, to the point of my being an amateur historian of sorts.  I also have a copy of the document made at the time my 5x great grandfather mustered out of the South Carolina militia after the War of 1812, and an obituary printed in a South Carolina newspaper when my 6 x great grandfather died at the age of 128!!!!  And yes, I’m with Stogie; the South should have won because they were in the right Constitutionally.  The war happened, as historian and writer Shelby Foote said, because as a nation we lost our ability to reason, compromise and work out solutions.
4.   I lost my mother to cancer when she was 69 years old.  The greatest honor of my life was being by her side throughout and giving back to the woman who gave me so much in life.  I will miss and honor her for as long as I live.
5.  I am an adult with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).  When I was going through school, no one knew about attention deficit disorder or children who we now consider “gifted and talented” because of the way their intelligences work.  It would have been good to know back then, to be able to understand the reason for panic one feels when they “don’t get it” the first time.  Knowing this would have given me years of a greater peace of mind, more self-confidence.  Of course, I rectified this as an adult … it just seems to me that teenagers and young adults have enough insecurity.  Yet in spite of my own experience, I worry that our society tends to over-medicate our children.  We should teach them how to use a dozen different theatre screens, rather than medicating them so that half are turned off for a while.
6.  Like most everyone else, I have loved and lost.  There is a saying, “It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.”  I think that’s true.  Looking back on different time, different circumstances seems like a waste of effort to me.  Where I am right now is that I am happy with who I am, how I’ve evolved as a human being, and I’m very happy that there are a few people who love me for who I am, instead whom I might have been.
7.   As many of you know, I was raised a dyed in the wool Democrat.  I registered to vote at 18, and since then have never missed voting in a Primary or General election in all that time.  It was during the Clinton administration that I started to understand that liberalism was taking over the party and that much of the policies were leading us away from the Constitution and freedom as I grew up with it.  I don’t consider myself a Democrat or Republican.  I am a Constitutional Conservative who believes that anything that is not Constitutional is not in my best interest.  I also believe that policies that swing too far in either direction are not in my best interest either.
8.  It is my dream to move to a warmer climate before I get much older.  If I never see another snowflake… I’ll be happy.  I also speak with a drawl inspite of the fact I was born and raised in the North.  Why you might ask?  Most of my community and family were southern transplants, including most of my teachers.  I’m environmentally southern I guess.
Passing along the Filthy Blog Cootie:  I hereby pass the blog cootie along to LA Sunsett at Political Yen and YangZ at Geeez,  and AOW at Always on Watch.
You folks are now obliged to share eight random facts about yourselves and to pass the bug along to three other bloggers each.
A salute to a Soldier and Pink Boxers
What does a soldier do when he is in sleeping quarters and his base comes under attack?  Well it turns into a “come as you are” fight featureing “pink boxers, body armour and flip flops”.  A huge Memorial Day Salute to Army Specialist Zachary Boyd, 19, of Fort Worth, Texas!APTOPIX US AFGHANISTAN
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Thursday praised an Army soldier in eastern Afghanistan who drew media attention this month after rushing to defend his post from attack while wearing pink boxer shorts and flip-flops.
In fact, Gates said he wants to meet the soldier and shake his hand the next time he visits Afghanistan.
“Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage,” Gates said in remarks prepared for a speech in New York.
“I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just imagine seeing that: a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his cross-hairs. What an incredible innovation in psychological warfare,” he said.
Marco Rubio’s Farewell Address
This is the kind of person who I wish would run for office everywhere.  What a fine American.
A heartbeat away from the Oval Office.
The last time I was nervous about a man who sat in the Vice Presidency being close to the highest office in the land, it was when Dan Quayle was VP, and even he wasn’t this immature and stupid.  It seems to me that we should have President Larry, and his brother Vice-President Darrell, and his other brother Speaker of the House Darrell in charge.  It would not make a split hair’s bit of difference given this performance.
The vice president, well-known for his verbal gaffes, confirms at a dinner the existence and location of a secret hidden bunker that Cheney is believed to have used after the 9/11 attacks.
Biden Reveals Location of Secret VP Bunker
Vice President Joe Biden, well-known for his verbal gaffes, may have finally outdone himself, divulging potentially classified information meant to save the life of a sitting vice president.
According to a report, while recently attending the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, an annual event where powerful politicians and media elite get a chance to cozy up to one another, Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president.
The bunker is believed to be the secure, undisclosed location former Vice President Dick Cheney remained under protection in secret after the 9/11 attacks.
Eleanor Clift, Newsweek magazine’s Washington contributing editor, said Biden revealed the location while filling in for President Obama at the dinner, who, along with Grover Cleveland, is the only president to skip the gathering.
According to Clift’s report on the Newsweek blog, Biden “said a young naval officer giving him a tour of the residence showed him the hideaway, which is behind a massive steel door secured by an elaborate lock with a narrow connecting hallway lined with shelves filled with communications equipment.”
No administration has ever shown so much disrespect for the security of the country.  Now we have a childish man who can’t control his mouth, jeopardizing his own safety in the event of an attack on our country.  I wonder how much this slip is going to cost taxpayers to fix.  I remember in Junior High and High School, there was always someone who thought they looked cleaver when they “were in the know” about things nobody else knew, but this is the real world.  Secrets are in place to cover the event of the unthinkable and to protect our nation and government.  I guess the Obama administration wants another vote of  “no confidence”.  We have recently been threatened once again by Al Qaeda, via last months video, and Joe want’s to make sure they know where he’ll be when they plan their attacks.  How thoughtful of Joe!   Smooth move Mr. Vice-President.
Let’s add Nancy Pelosi’s most recent boondoggle:   Calling the CIA liars, and implying she wasn’t informed that waterboarding was actually being used by CIA interrogators,  when the briefing was well witnessed by others on the committee and detailed minutes exist???  The Speaker of the House is demonstrating by her attempt at “decieving the public” that she is either a liar or she has a memory issue that makes her, either way, unfit for the role of Speaker.
Now that Joe Biden has seen fit to give up his hidey hole in the event of attack,  if President Obama is taken out by our enemies (heaven forbid!), Joe is sure to be taken out as well.  That leaves us with a woman incapable of pulling herself away from the koolaid and with a selective memory disorder to step up to the plate!  No, I’m not feeling safer with this administration up to bat.
Rachel Alexandra wins Preakness Stakes
It’s been 85 years since “a filly” won the Preakness Stakes, and in it’s history, now, only 5 fillys have won the second leg of the Triple Crown.  Rachel Alexandra became the 5th today.  What a beautiful girl she is!  Congratulations to this filly and her proud owner and jockey!
RachelAlexandra
BALTIMORE — Rachel Alexandra became the first filly to win the Preakness since 1924, holding off a late charge by Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird to capture the middle jewel of the Triple Crown.
The only filly in the race, Rachel Alexandra went off as the 9-5 favourite. She moved to the front from the No. 13 post and took a big lead before Mine That Bird tested the filly in the stretch.
Musket Man finished third.
Rachel Alexandra, with jockey Calvin Borel on board, won in 1:55.08.
She paid $5.60, $4.60 and $3.60.
It’s Tea Party Time again!
T.E.An505176532_8652
Well Laura has many updates on the planned Tea Party in Indianapolis to happen on Independence Day, at the Indianapolis Tea Party Blog.
As details become available you can look for updates to be posted here on my blog or go to Laura’s link. So far, this is what is planned for Indy, which is still in a stay tuned mode, but very exciting as it will be an All State event. This means it will be an excellent opportunity to meet people from all over our state and I am sure, once again heard some great patriots speak!
The Next Event
We are planning an all Indiana Independence Day Tea Party for July 4th right here in Indianapolis (in concert with the National Tea Party Leadership)!  So mark your calendars!!  We are hoping that fellow Hoosiers from around the state will all come to the Circle City to join with other Hoosier Patriots in “Declaring Independence from Tax and Spend Politicians”! The details of the event are still in the works and we will be updating all of you soon!  To help make sure that the entire state is represented, we will be working with other Tea Party Organizers from around Indiana who were involved in planning their own Tax Day Tea Party on April 15th.   Also, and most importantly, we will be NEEDING volunteers to help make this event as successful as the Indianapolis Tax Day Tea Party was! I will be sending an email out and updating this site within the next week or so to let you know what the needs are and how you can get involved.
And then there is planning going on for a Nationwide Tea Party this fall in Washington, DC.
March on Washington
We hear you! We know that many of you are FIRED UP to take the Tea Parties to DC!  Our Leadership Team is contacting the many different organizations that are planning a DC event and will be determing which organization to partner with.  Again, once this decision has been made, you all will be the FIRST to know!! But yes, just so you know, Washington DC is in our sites!
And another organizational note of interest to think about is signing up for Indy Defenders of Liberty - small groups on MeetUp. (Laura explains how this works in concert with the Tea Party function).
I want to continue to encourage all of you to either join an existing small group (for a listing, go to the Forum “Small Groups” in the Message Boards) OR if there isn’t a small group in your area, step up and take the lead and start one! It really is a great way to connect with other like-minded Americans! Do a book study (”5,000 Year Leap”, “Liberty and Tyranny”, “The Forgotten Man”, etc.), get involved with a local charity, discuss ways to improve your community, or just spend time discussing current issues (that ALONE will make for one interesting meeting!!). Just get connected and get involved!! Also, an Indy Defenders of Liberty gathering is in the works. Our group has certainly grown since our first meeting (The Glenn Beck “We Surround Them” meeting) and it would be great to get us all together again to reconnect! More information to follow.
Feel free to check back here for updates and ask questions. I will make this post stick so it will stay on top of the blog page until after July 4th.  So make plans to celebrate our Constitutional rights and liberties with fellow Hoosiers over our most patriotic holiday.  Come out and make your love for liberty and your country known.
Trump Rules: Miss California Is Not Fired
I find it increasingly disingenuous,  that so much focus has been put on Miss Prejean’s stated opinion when asked a question in a beauty contest.  This is America after all and it is a right that many of died and bled to protect.  But of course, the mainstream media has been busy doing their worst and today, Mr. Trump did what he does so well… PUT THEM SOUNDLY IN THIER PLACE!!!  Thank you Donald!
The incredible dishonesty of the MSM is apparent to me in all of this.  After all, why go after a beauty contestant who can do nothing to promote your cause?  Why not go after the man in the White House who has made it perfectly clear that he does not support gay marriage????  Where were the attacks on Obama’s personal life and the name calling when he expressed basically the same view as Miss Prejean?
Personally, having been an Art major in college… long ago mind you, I don’t see where Miss Prejean’s pictures do anything more than celebrate the beauty of her physical body.  They aren’t nearly as suggestive of sexual acts, as say, the photos that emerged of Vanessa Williams were.  It’s really funny that our mainstream media shows their stripe, because if Miss Prejean were of the left wing persuasion, it would have been a whole different game being played.   I am glad she kept her title and the “right thing” was done.  Simply giving an honest response to a question and not pandering to political correctness during a beauty pageant, is very honest and refreshing in my book, and I salute her for how she has stood up to the harassment.
Congratulations Carrie Prejean!
Let the State Sovereignty Roll!
Congratulations Montana and hats off to their Governor!!!
Who says the state of Montana don’t have guts?   Sure it only applys to guns made in the state but it is the things said within the legislation that are important.  It’s my understanding Texas is working on a similar gun law!  Stay tuned 2nd Amendment fans.
Montana Governor Signs New Gun Law  –  by Col. George W.
Executive Summary - The  USA state of  Montana has signed into power a revolutionary gun law. I mean REVOLUTIONARY. The State of  Montana has defied the federal government and their gun laws. This will prompt a showdown between the federal government and the State of Montana . The federal government fears citizens owning guns. They try to curtail what types of guns they can own. The gun control laws all have one common goal – confiscation of privately owned firearms.
Montana has gone beyond drawing a line in the sand. They have challenged the Federal Government. The fed now either takes them on and risks them saying the federal agents have no right to violate their state gun laws and arrest the federal agents that try to enforce the federal firearms acts. This will be a world-class event to watch.  Montana could go to voting for secession from the union, which is really throwing the gauntlet in Obama’s face. If the federal government does nothing they lose face. Gotta love it.
Words from Alan Keyes
Anyone who has read my blog from time to time knows that after Fred Thompson dropped out of the Presidential race, I looked at Alan Keyes and liked what he represented.  I posted support for him in his bid to run on the Constitution Party as a third party candidate since I am no fan of John McCain.  Recently I attended two tea parties, the one in Indianapolis on Tax Day and the one in Ft. Wayne that was scheduled for the Saturday after Tax Day.  Both events were wonderful expressions of the great American right to assemble peacefully and  to air our grievances against our government.  Even though the mainstream media did their best to paint these gathering as being gatherings of  “racist rednecks”, it simply was another lie brought to you by propogandists posing as professionals.  Plain and Simple.
At the Ft. Wayne, IN Tea Party Rally, and the reason I decided to make the trek and attend, besides my desire to support my friends in Ft. Wayne like zeakster of course at the Ft. Wayne Right Wing Blog,  was to hear Alan Keyes speak.  This man, in my humble opinion, is one of the best speakers on the founding principals behind this great nation in modern times.  I will back him again anytime and any where.  His boldly speaking out on what the Obama administration is doing does worry me for his safety.  So I will keep this good man in my prayers.  If you aren’t familiar with Dr. Keyes, you can see a lot about him  here.
Alan Keyes: Government Will Stage Terror, Declare Martial Law
alan-keyes
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Tuesday, April 21, 2009
Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes has given perhaps his most dire warning yet,   saying that the Obama administration is preparing to stage terror attacks, declare martial law and cancel the 2012 elections, which is why they are demonizing their political enemies as criminals and terrorists.
Keyes is best known for his performance during the 2000 Republican presidential debates, when he was accredited by many media outlets as being the clear winner during a series of debates with George W. Bush and John McCain.
“It’s obvious that they will stop at nothing,” Keyes told attendees of a reception in Fort Wayne, adding, “We may wake up one day and there’s a series of terrorist attacks, the economy is paralysed….martial law will be declared everywhere in the United States and it won’t end until the crisis ends.”
Keyes said that Americans should be thankful if they even see another election in 2012, stating, “If we don’t wake up and work to see that it happens, we will not see another election.”
“The minute they think they can get away with it, they will end this system of government and that is their intention,” added Keyes, noting that everyone acting as if the time we are in was just “business as usual” reminds him of the attitude of politicians in the Weimar Republic when Hitler was rising to power or eastern Europe when the Communists were taking over after the second world war.
Keyes said that because the majority of people are decent-minded, they believe others will play by the rules when this simply isn’t the case, warning that this attitude will allow evil to take over before we can do anything about it.
“It is so clear hat we have now put a faction in place – they are not playing by the rules and they don’t intend to play by the rules – if they were playing by the rules they wouldn’t have tried to identify their opposition as criminals,” added Keyes, making reference to the recent controversy surrounding the release of the MIAC and Homeland Security reports, which implied that Americans who exercise and are knowledgeable about their constitutional rights are a threat to law enforcement and potential domestic terrorists.
Keyes said that the only solution was from the bottom up because our leaders “are so gutless that they won’t even ask that the Constitution be enforced for clear, plain, absolutely unequivocal requirements,” and respond meekly with “their lips shut and their hearts terrorized.”
Keyes also warned of Obama’s agenda to create a civilian security force and said it was part of the ultimate agenda to disarm American citizens and create a police state.
Keyes has been a vocal critic of Obama, warning that he is a radical Communist who is determined to destroy America , and that if his agenda is not stopped then the country as we know it will cease to exist.
State Sovereignty, an idea who’s time may have come.
Thursday, April 30, 2009
constitution State Sovereignty
I am not one of those people who think that the United States Constitution is a living, breathing document.  I rather believe that the founding fathers intended to guide us exactly as they penned the Constitution.  The founding fathers anticipated that changes to the Constitution would be necessary in the future;  it is why they provided a process through which the American people could amend it.  They did not intend the process to be easy, however.  They sought to protect the Constitution from ill-considered, hastily prepared changes.  But they also wanted to ensure that the process of change did not prohibit it.
Constitutional amendment is possible through a two-part process, proposed in two ways.  The first and most common method is that constitutional amendments originate within both houses of congress, requiring two-thirds majority in both houses to proceed.  Subsequently, all constitutional amendments must pass through two-thirds of the state legislatures.  One never used is when States call for a constitutional convention.  We can only presume that should two-thirds of the states call for a constitutional convention, it would cause grievous worry within the House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate.
So then let us imagine that the each of my readers copied and pasted this information into an email and sent it out to everyone they knew, and those people in turn did the same. And each of these people sent a letter to their state representative.  Suddenly, state legislators would be getting very similar demands that states reassert their constitutional rights as sovereign states, equal in power to that of the national government.  How would the Washington bureaucracy react?  It may simply depend upon the issue upon which the states sought to reassert their power.  Suppose the states decided the Sixteenth Amendment (imposition of federal income tax without regard to state apportionment), should be repealed.  Two-thirds of the states could imagine that much of the wealth passed to the federal government from their own citizens is capital revenue denied to the states.  Money is power, right?   So, rather a situation in which states must beg for federal money, they might suggest that state legislatures shall determine what percentage of the state’s wealth it ought to share with the federal government.   And assuming that any of this could actually happen, how would an arrogant federal government respond to this sudden and forthright challenge to federal pre-eminence?
Think about it;  after you’ve done that, why not act on it?   Would this not clearly demonstrate that  ‘we the people’ retain power over the government?
by Mustang at Social Sense
Now you may be asking yourself many questions in regard to this.  Feel free to go to Social Sense and read through the comments there or comment and ask here.   If you have questions in regard to what you can do to support this idea,  I will be posting a list here of Indiana legislators with contact info and a sample letter that you may choose to use if you feel so inclined.  I will try to have both posted within 24 hours.
Update – May 21,2009 – Another proponent of Mustang’s theory…
Have you ever heard of Randy Barnett?  He is a professor of legal theory at Georgetown University Law School and a proponent of states calling for a Constitutional Convention as a means to get us back to the principals of our Constitution. It gives further impetus to the idea that we have recourse under our Constitution to restore the liberties that the current administration is walking all over.  Even without a Convention coming into being per se, it sends a clear message to our leaders that “We the People” will call them on the carpet if they continue to ignore the founding principals.  You can read his full profile and view his video here.
