3 officers dead, suspect killed in Oakland, Calif. – (Update as of 11:00 Eastern… 4 officers have died)
OAKLAND, Calif. – Police say three officers and a suspect are dead and another officer is in grave condition after two related shootings, the first after a traffic stop and the second after a massive manhunt ended in gunfire.
Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason says two officers were shot just after 1 p.m. Saturday after they stopped the suspect’s vehicle in east Oakland. One officer was killed and another badly wounded.
The suspect fled the scene on foot into a nearby neighborhood, leading to an intense manhunt by dozens of officers. Thomason says officers acting on an anonymous tip found the suspect around 3:30 p.m. barricaded inside a building. Shots were fired and two members of the SWAT team and the suspect was killed.
Condolences to the families and loved ones of these 4 heroic, fallen officers. Rest in Peace. HAM

Perhaps it would be better if the citizens of Oakland renounced the lawlessness associated with their status as a sanctuary city. I don’t know if this perp was an illegal, or not … but I will say that there is a psychological cost to selective obedience to the law. If the people of Oakland choose not to obey federal law with respect to immigration, why should the citizens of Oakland care about gunning down police officers?

You are so right my friend. I’m sure upon close observation, they have horrible crime rates. Sanctuary cities in Cali are home to literally thousands of the most violent South American gangs ever! And right now, worldwide Phoenix, AZ has become the #2 kidnap capitol of the world, 2nd only to Mexico City all due to illegal Mexican drug traffic in Phoenix. To make matters worse, the city won’t equip their police with automatic weapons as well as the drug dealers are. It must be a real pain to not know how to arrange your priorities according to common sense and public safety!
