31,000+ Scientists do Press Conference to Debunk Global Warming.

Bet you won’t see this on CNN tonight! The Mainstream Media chooses what they want you to know, and it will be no different on this.

From: The National Press Club Online

10:00 AM OISM (News Conference)
Description: MEDIA ADVISORY: Dr. Arthur Robinson (OISM) to release names of over 30,000 scientists rejecting global warming hypothesis.Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM)

Who: Dr. Arthur Robinson of the OISM

What: release of names in OISM “Petition Project”

When: 10:00am on Monday May 19

Where: Holeman Lounge at the National Press Club, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, DC

Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM’s Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of “settled science” and an overwhelming “consensus” in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.

It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science — including 9,021 PhDs, are not “a few.” Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not “skeptics.”

Following the Press Club event, Dr. Robinson will host a lunch briefing on the Hill. Interested parties may join him in the Environment and Public Works hearing room, 406 Dirksen at noon for lunch on Monday May 19.

Please indicate whether you will attend the lunch by emailing audrey@advocacyink.com with your contact info and affiliation.

Videos from Australian Professor Bob Carter, a geologist, an excellent presentation disputing man-made global warming using nothing but pure science and statistics. Two more available that I will post later on.

  3. Terry … aka “Meatbrain” … or, like I enjoy addressing him as “Meat-Ball-Less” undoubtedly believes everything Al Gory and the rest of the Democrapper Half-Breed IDIOT MORONS think about Earth and Global Warming.

All of them are so stupid, they can’t understand that NO ONE in Congress or anywhere else on the planet is gonna change the weather conditions on Earth.

The Earth was designed originally by GOD … and, no scientist nor software program will ever alter what GOD created billions of years ago … so, get over it and deal with it.

Your miserable life is nothing more than a “vapor of steam” to GOD … that means you and everyone else is only here as long as GOD wants you to be here … and then, you vanish permanently, no matter what your opinion or alleged scientific solution is to the Earth getting hotter.

  4. 31,000…what a crock.

Robinson is a smart guy with an impressive record…that ended in about 1978. Now he’s a fraud. He’s been making a tidy living off of dupes like you for a good while. He’s a fringe crackpot, and if you repeat his duplicitous tripe without a moment’s thought or four clicks’ worth of research, you are also a fringe crackpot, or worse, a crackpot who is also a fool.

The OISM–“Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine”–has one employee–guess his name?

It is located on a farm.

Robinson has been coasting on his petition scam since 1998. A small number of his signatures are from actual scientists, but the vast majority of them are crackpots and morons and fictitious characters. Anyone can sign on the internet. Last time I checked, Dr. House and Jesse Ventura had offered their sterling scientific credentials.

When questioned in 1998, OISM’s Arthur Robinson admitted that only 2,100 signers of the Oregon Petition had identified themselves as physicists, geophysicists, climatologists, or meteorologists, “and of those the greatest number are physicists.” (Sourcewatch.com)

31,000 regular people signing a petition isn’t such a compelling number.

Develop your own opinions about global warming, but you’re going to have to work harder to upholster your delusions with a layer of respectability.

  5. I guess we will see if the petition is validated or not. Even so, 2,100 scientists coming out and bucking the “socialist establishment” is a good number of people in the science field. Considering there wasn’t one scientific person on the board that decided to give Al Gore a Nobel Peace Prize, 2,000+ is quite a few.

Gee ice, I don’t see you getting up in the air about any of the other items I posted about the “Global Warming Hoax”. Just hammering away using “internet sources”. I think I know who is delusional here.

    Comment by HoosierArmyMom | May 21, 2008

  6. 2100…in 1998. There are more now, I’ll give you that. Not many, but a few credentialed scientists debunk global warming, and some not for profit. That’s a few more, maybe(even without Dr. Strangelove and Michael Crichton, the real one.) But there are vastly more scientists, organizations, publications, and agencies who accept human-caused, accelerated, destructive climate change. As I said, you can go your own way, but I used “delusional” precisely. If you only listen to Robinson and Solomon, and base all your argumentation and observation on them and their echoers, you are working from a tiny fringe faction of very poorly credentialed, visibly biased crackpots. It’s not delusion because it’s wrong; it’s delusion because it is thoughtful, focused self-deception by an otherwise sharp thinker (strident, repetitive, occasionally nuts, but who isn’t) but sharp. It’s also delusion because (I’m guessing here, I know) it seems that you care less about global warming than you do about attacking political figures you despise. Despise away, but, well, I said it already.

and viz. internet, sure, internet sources…I have plenty more, that’s the entire point; do you dispute the assertions about Robinson’s Farm and the extensive staff of PhD’s and MD’s at the OISM? I thought not. But don’t forget: the ENTIRE PETITION is internet based. It began as a paper mailing and is now open to all comers. By the way–this one goes to Nature and the Proceedings, by the way, paper books–five times as many credentialed scientists, and not “mostly physicists”, have complained about and rejected the petition as have signed it.
By the way, Robinson tried to pass it off as a reprint from Nature. If Al Gore did something like that, you’d tear him a new one. I’m just looking for balance, that’s all.

  7. ice, I assure you, I am looking at this and since it is not a simple topic, the MSM is biased and manipulative in what they present and our politicians have made it a “manipulation tool”, I am interested in learning all I can. Al Gore is getting pretty wealthy from the “hysteria” and after he pushed NAFTA on us, and I have seen how many Americans, that it put out of work, I am a GW skeptic. I was born and raised a Dyed in the Wool Democrat, but over the years I have come to be incredibly suspicious of Gore’s motives and consider him a huge hypocrite on the issue. My motives are to seek facts and information available. I will debunk my own views if I find solid evidence that I can believe, I have no problem with that. I do desire to have balanced and subjective information on the subject, so anything you point me to will be looked at closely and I thank you for that. Many like to assume they know my “heart” on the subject of the insanity going on worldwide these days, but they do not. People should be free to decide things for themselves and not be treated like “brainwashed minions” of a overblown government and the overblown policies. That is where my head is these days.

    Comment by HoosierArmyMom | May 21, 2008

  8. Thought I would add some comments on the subject from Moonbattery. It presents both sides of this nicely.

A large number of US scientists (to our direct knowledge: engineers, biologists, computer scientists and geologists) recently received a package in the mail.

The package consists of a colour preprint of a ‘new’ article by Robinson, Robinson and Soon and an exhortation to sign a petition demanding that the US not sign the Kyoto Protocol.

If you get a feeling of deja vu, it is because this comes from our old friends, the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine and is an attempt to re-invigorate the highly criticised 1999 “Oregon Petition”.

The article itself is just an update of the original article, minus an author (Baliunas), with a switch of Robinson children (Zachary’s out, Noah is in), but with a large number of similar errors and language. As in previous case, this paper too, is not peer reviewed.

Since this is a rehash of the previous paper plus a few more cherry-picked statistics of dubious relevance, this nonsense is not worth your effort.

Posted by: Real Climate at May 19, 2008 12:43 PM

Dear oh dear… whom to believe… I find it odd that Real Climate (please, do, click on the name…) chooses the phrase ‘cherry-picked’ statistics. viz:

Lunatics At RealClimate.Org (Specifically Gavin) Caught Lying.

… or simply google realclimate.org and see what you get in the way of hits. I mean, when half of the top ten hits are decidedly *negative* towards an organization (‘specially on freakin’ GOOGLE!), it makes one take advice from said organization with a VERY large grain of salt.

Anyway, the point is that these scientists (presumably, therefore, possessed of some tiny bit of education and a smidgin of common sense) most likely read the brief petition before they signed it. The source is immaterial; the substance is. When someone apparently associated with realclimate.org deliberately misses the point, that it’s the petition, not the paper… it’s the substance of the petition, not the source… it’s fundamentally about whether or not the science has “been decided” or not… well, it makes me wonder when I hear that person use a phrase like “this nonsense is not worth your effort.” It makes me wonder: are you a scientist, or a propagandist? And why the concern over a petition that was only sent to American scientists, when your spelling indicates that you not one?

Oh, and the exhortation wouldn’t be to “not sign the Kyoto Protocol”. The KP is an international treaty, not a research paper, and has already signed on behalf of the United States… by a State Department flunkie under the Clinton Administration. Clinton, wisely, didn’t want his own name appearing on the document, and, wisely again, left it to sit on his desk for the remainder of his term in office. An exhortation might be made not to RATIFY the treaty, but it could only be made to US Senators, and would only make sense if the treaty actually made it to the Senate.

    Oiao & Anti-PC….

My point exactly. If even the overtly-leftist Google can’t hide or redirect the critics of so-called RealClimate.org, what does that say about them?

Now, in reference to concerns about OISM from others, I’m in no way saying that they’re the best thing since sliced bread… but considering how simply-put the petition is (the text, both paragraphs of it, is here)…

    http://www.oism.org/pproject/

…and that the signatories, scientists, are presumably educated, and wouldn’t sign a two-paragraph petition without taking the 40 or so seconds it takes to read the damned thing…

…isn’t it interesting that RealClimate attacks the messenger and not the message? Honestly, if a moonbat told me the sky was blue, I wouldn’t dismiss him/her/heshe/it out of hand simply for being a moonbat. I might look out a window to check, in the inquisitive ‘always questioning assumptions’ spirit of true science, but I digress…

Isn’t it also interesting that this petition has garnered something like 12 times as many signatories as the IPCC? Even with the full weight of the UN, Al Gore, and the Global Warming Industry ™ behind it? Just food for thought.

  9. I’m a little bit confused HoosierArmyMom. Your name suggests that you are from Indiana and have a lad in the army. And yet above the way I read it you are a gentleman in the army.

Either way you appear to be doing a great job on your blog. And I will add you to my browser for inspiration and ideas.

But I want to know whether I ought to tense in my stomach worrying about the fate of your kid in the army?

  10. For a non-violent movie that basketball movie with Dennis Hopper and Gene Hackman was pretty damn good wasn’t it?

Still any movie with Gene Hackman tends to be good on account of his very presence.

I was a fan of another bloke from Indiana known as Doc Counsilman.

  11. Hi graemebird, thanks for coming on and commenting. Much to my own relief, my oldest is a parachute rigger in the Airborne stationed at Fort Bragg. Right now riggers only deploy on a volunteer basis. Of course that could change, but for now, it’s not a worry. A young man who has been part of my life since my youngest son was in elementary school came by when he was on leave last month and is currently training in in AZ for fast track deployment. He is like one of my own, so I ask all to keep Brian in their prayers and plan to be sending him care packages soon. This kid is like one of my own, and I am very proud of him.
My youngest son is thinking about Navy or Air Force right now, so I might be HoosierArmyNavyMom before it’s over, or maybe HoosierArmyAFMom. LOL!!!

As for the tone of the blog posts, I am honored to have the assistance of a very proud Texan, Viet Nam era USMC forward scout and sniper and former Marine Corps Drill Instructor as a co-blogger. I have been dealing with a lot professionally lately, and he has been helping me out and posting a lot of good stuff about the politicial concerns and the economy. He is an opinionated old bird, but he shoots straight from the hip. Our different styles, with blog sharing with a man, makes for some varied and interesting content at times, and of course we have some pretty bazaar exchanges with some “socialist libtard trolls” from time to time. 🙂 Thanks again for you kind comment. I am honored you came by and come back anytime.

Comment by Mark Schaffer | August 6, 2008

  15. I could say, why does it matter, but I’m OK with saying what it is. I am public school educated prior to getting an AS in Computer Programming from a Community College, and I have a Master’s certification in Applied Project Management. I work as a consultant in the QA Testing/Coordination area of software development for a major pharmeceutial company. I won’t go into all the non-credit coursework I have done or all the training I’ve endured, but a good part of it was done in the school of hard knocks if you get my drift.

So… why do you ask that question?

  17. The reason you won’t see it on tv is that even a hack channel like CNN has some standards, and this thing has been debunked time & time again, yet people like you are still shamelessly parroting it as truth.
This has nothing to do with left or right, either.
The authors of the petition presented a “study” they claimed was published in a peer reviewed journal.
Not only was it not published ANYWHERE – let alone by the NAS as they implied, who actually rebuked the organization behind it for doing so – but the people who authored it admittedly had no training in climate science.
This is according to the institute that created the petition, not some liberal group, and they also admitted that anyone could sign the petition, regardless of their field of education/experience, no credentials were checked, that fictional characters signed it, and that, even then, less than 30% of the respondents claimed to have a PHD, less than 1/10th of one percent said they had any training in climate science, and 40% had no more than a BS degree in fields like veterinary science or literature.
If you have REAL scientific studies to back your opinions up, fine, trot them out, but this one has been ripped to pieces, and you should be embarrassed to present it here as fact.

  18. So lets all ignore the further evidence that has come out since this post was made over a year ago… that the science was manipulated by the left winger so called scientists who’s emails touted their manipulations! Global Warming is a HOAX perpetrated by those who want to cash in on the worldwide panic that they can create with those manipulations.

I find it amusing that you sought to attack this post that is older than dirt… anyone with half a brain can look up the latest findings and see that you are a shill.
